Waykar 34-Pint vs Frigidaire FFAD2234W1 22-Pint

Both are small compressor dehumidifiers aimed at a single damp room, and neither has a pump or Wi-Fi. But they are not the same class of machine: the Waykar pulls 34 pints/day for about $156, while the Frigidaire pulls 22 pints/day for around $220. Here is where the money actually goes.

Capacity and coverage: the Waykar simply does more

On paper this is lopsided. The Waykar is rated for 34 pints/day across 2,000 sq ft; the Frigidaire for 22 pints/day across 1,500 sq ft. That is over 50% more moisture removal for less money, so the Waykar handles a larger or damper room, or dries a mildly musty area faster. Neither is a basement machine — for a whole 4,500 sq ft basement you want a true 50-pint unit — but within the small-room bracket the Waykar covers noticeably more ground and reaches a target humidity sooner.

Noise and efficiency: not close

The Waykar is both quieter and thriftier. Its manufacturer low-fan figure is 33 dBA versus the Frigidaire's 43 dBA, and it draws just 230 W against 260 W — while removing more water. That is why the Waykar scores 10/10 on both quiet operation and efficiency and carries Energy Star Most Efficient, where the Frigidaire lands at 43 dBA and a 260 W draw for less output. One honest caveat: 33 dBA is the low-fan rating; on high the Waykar gets louder, as every compressor unit does.

Tank and refrigerant: the Frigidaire's only edges

The Frigidaire is not without merit. Its 1.7-gallon tank dwarfs the Waykar's 0.62-gallon reservoir, so if you empty by hand rather than running a continuous drain hose, you will visit it far less often. It also uses R-32 refrigerant. The trade-off is weight and bulk: the Frigidaire is 33 lb versus the Waykar's very portable 24 lb. If manual emptying is your reality and you want fewer trips to the sink, the bigger tank is a genuine, if narrow, advantage.

Verdict

For almost everyone, the Waykar 34-Pint is the better buy: more moisture removal, quieter operation, better efficiency, and a lighter build — all for roughly $65 less. Choose the Frigidaire FFAD2234W1 only if its 1.7-gallon tank matters to you (no drain hose, minimal emptying) or you specifically want R-32 refrigerant and don't need the extra capacity.
