Roborock F25 Ultra Steam

Steam is the spec that separates machines that lift dried-on messes from machines that smear them. There are two other steam units in this catalog and both are corded: the Tineco Floor ONE S5 Steam at $400 and the Bissell CrossWave HydroSteam at $400. Until now, wanting steam meant accepting a tether and, on both of those, giving up lay-flat reach as well.

The F25 Ultra Steam breaks that. Its listing states 356F steam for stubborn particles and 187F hot water for sticky, slimy messes - two separate heat systems, not one - plus 22,000 Pa of suction. It is cordless. And it lies flat at 180 degrees, so it reaches under beds, sofas and toe-kicks that neither corded steam machine can touch.

One honest note on the heat figures. Roborock's own listings and some retailer pages cite 356F in one place and 302F in another for the steam stage. Either way it is well past boiling and well past what a plain water-and-brush pass does. We score the capability, not the decimal.

Two marks against it, and neither is small.

Self-care scores 8, not 9. It washes its brush at 194F, which is hot - hotter than the 140F the Dreame H14 Pro states. But the machines that earn a 9 here finish the cycle by drying the roller with hot air: the Tineco S7 FlashDry pushes 158F through it, the i6 Stretch does the same, and the H14 Pro pairs its 140F wash with a fast hot dry.

This one's listing states the hot wash without that dry step. Hot-then-dry is what keeps a roller from going sour between uses, so a machine that only washes hot leaves a little more maintenance on you. Wipe the roller and leave the lid open, and you will be fine. Skip that and you will eventually smell it.

Second, price. It lists at $799.99. That is the most expensive machine in this catalog by a wide margin - the next-highest is the Dreame H14 Pro at $500. It has repeatedly traded near $500, which is where it becomes genuinely competitive. At full list it is a hard sell against machines scoring 8.3 for $400.

The runtime 9 rests on one figure: 60 minutes from a 4,600 mAh battery in AUTO mode. That is the rated number, and rated numbers deserve scrutiny on any cordless machine.

Sixty minutes in AUTO is not 60 minutes of steam-mopping a sticky kitchen at full power. Heat costs energy. Higher suction costs energy. The published figure is a mid-setting number, and pushing the machine harder will pull it down - the same caveat that applies to the 50-minute Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach and every other battery machine here.

What the 60 minutes buys you against this specific field is headroom. The next-longest cordless runtime here is the H12 Pro FlexReach's 50 minutes, and the common figure among premium cordless machines - the H14, H14 Pro, the Tineco Stretch models - is 40. So even discounted for optimism, this has the most cordless margin in the catalog. For a whole floor of hard flooring in one session, that margin is the difference between finishing and docking halfway.

Buy it if you need steam and you also need to move freely. That combination did not exist in this catalog before, and it is the entire argument. A kitchen with dried-on spills, an entryway that collects tracked-in grime, hard floors that continue under low furniture, and a floor plan too large or too multi-level to want a cord - that is the buyer this machine is built for, and nothing else here serves them.

Do not buy it at full list if steam is optional for you. At $799.99 you are paying roughly double the $400 Tineco S5 Steam, which scores 8.3 and steams perfectly well if you accept a cord and no under-furniture reach. And if you do not need steam at all, the Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach at $450 scores 8.3, runs 50 cordless minutes, lies flat, and washes hotter at 194F - it gives up steam and nothing else that matters for everyday crumbs and spills.

The honest frame: this is the best machine here, and the price knows it. Wait for it near $500 and it is an easy recommendation. At $800 it is a specialist purchase.
