On the box they look like the same product at two prices. They are not. Both units have Wi-Fi, so app control by itself is not a reason to choose either. Buy neither if you want shoulder-season heat, because neither one heats. And treat portable as generous language: 73 lb and 74 lb move between rooms once a season, not once a day.

Verdict

The Midea Duo 14,000 BTU Inverter wins at 10 overall against 8.7, and it wins on the specs that decide a hot August: 12,000 SACC against 10,000, a hose-in-hose path that does not pull hot air back in, and a lower noise floor. It is also cheaper per honest BTU at every price in both ranges. The LG LP1022FVSM is the right buy in one specific case - a small, shaded room where 10,000 SACC is plenty and you can find it near $400. In a large or sun-exposed room, the $50 saved is the wrong economy.
